VIBE: Style Edition

Aight, Im a bigggggg Journalism buff, I appreciate and respect great publications. Once upon a time I was a big fan of VIBE, but as of lately, the magazine has been real WEAKKK! To the point where I've actually stop buying em'. I understand the recession and I understand the slump in ppl spending money on ads, but in all actuality, considering the recession, this is the time when magazines and publications are suppose to take over and DOMINATE! This is when ppl are spending more time reading then ever...Nuff said I don't want vent too much, but my homie over at VIBE, let me peep the new March Style Edition. Shit is sickkkkkkkk, but very reminiscent of Complex though, anyway here's the cover...

Movado- So Special

Its about Rauss time!!! this song has been ripping it up in clubs and party spots from L.E.S. to Flatbush all summer and has become an on-air favorite at radio station's throughout the NorthEast.

Vidoe's a lil weak...Its a lil' weird not hearing it followed by Serani's "No Games", but I respect it none the less!

The Influence of an Iconic Designer: RALPH LAUREN

Its amazing the influence fashion can have on society and culture. Case and point, I have this Acapulco Gold "Lo Life" t-shirt, that I never knew the history behind. Truthfully I just thought the shit was hot.Long story short, after being enlightened by what the name "Lo Life" meant and where it was derived from, I was amazed and intrigued to learn more.

About 2 decades ago history was made when 2 boosting clicks from Brooklyn NYC; one hailing from Brownsville (U.S.A aka united shoplifters association) the other from Crown Heights (Ralphies Kids) would join together to form one click…… The Lo-Lifes (Lo being short for Polo) the Lo-lifes revolutionized urban street fashion and we’re the poster children of “fresh to death." Meshing 5th ave style with urban lifestyle, much is accredited to these modern day metropolitan Robin Hoods who terrorized department stores through out the Tri-state on a daily basis in pursuit of Polo by Ralph Lauren goods and other pricey noteable designers. The Lo-lifes have been highly regarded with accolades and respect from a majority of hip-hop’s elite for their contribution to the hip-hop urban lifestyle and fashion. Rumors of a Movie deal has been floating around the industry which has caught the interest of Fab Five Freddy and Jay-Z.

Really Ye'?

Anyone who knows me, knows that I'm KanYe West biggest admirer (in the sense that one would admire the music, style, and personality of an artist) and strongly support anything he does, because I belive in the brand that is, or has come to be KanYe West. With the birth of his new shoe for, iconic luxury brand, Louis Vuitton, one would understand his joy and condone certain behavior, but when he makes videos like this changing his name to "Martin 'Louie' King, Jr.," there's a serious problem

My Income Ain't So Disposable Right Now...

As much as I would love to stunt and front, like I got it($) like that, the reality of the situation is that were in a deep RECESION and I don't have it like that...lol. Disposable income isn't something I have much of these days, and what I do have, I try to preserve and not spend on Tenis things like this, Louis Vuitton's Damier playing cards. Although it is sick... Especially when you have game night.\

But in all seriousness ppl, let's begin to better manage our money. As a matter of fact, I CHALLENGE everyone out there, reading this and those who will hear about this, to save $3 a day from now until Dec. 23rd and see how much you have by the end of the year (don't feel like doing the math, so I'm not sure how much that is rite now and there's no significance behind that date..just chose it randomly.).

Let's get it ppl, the challenge has begun!

Ladies & Gentleman...

My President is BLACKKKK.... my Goyard is BLUE

and I'll be got damned if my Lanvin's aint TOO...

HA...

This afternoon, at 12noon, Barack Huessen Obama was sworn in into the US cabinet as the 44th President of The United States of America and made history for being the first African American to hold the position of Commanding Chief Officer.

As an American, I'm extremly PROUD, not because he's black, but because IM INSPIRED! The speech in which he delivered today moved me, congered up feelings of self-worth, determination and PRIDE!!!

***Big shot outs to IDJ for our inaugural luncheon... I LOVE ME SOME ANGELOS! Hmmmmm***

This is why...

I love and fell in love with Hip Hop!!!

I don't remember if I told you guys, but back in like late Sept. 08' I went to the Knitting Factory one friday night and it changed my mind set, re-instating my love for Hip Hop

Growing up in the 90s I really had NO CLUE how great music was. Don't get me wrong I've always been a fan of Jay & NaS, matter of fact I was first introduced to Illmatic by my babysitter's son; and R&B was dishing out hits left and right, so I guess I was aware, but I guess you really don't appreciate it, until you get older and hear nothing but garbage on the radio (my opinion).

With, all of, that being said, check this video out and REALLLLLLLLLLY understand why I fell in love with HIP HOP and why it means so much to me and why I plan to perserve it's history!!!!

No, No, Notorious!!!

Aight, I meant to post this a while ago, JULY of 08' to be exact, back when TD bank was still Commerce Bank, but I figured considering the release of the highly anticipated movie "Notorious," I'd post it. I thought that this was hilarious, considering all the other names that could of been used (John Doe, John Smith, Paul Smith, etc.), really "Chris Wallace" was the one that made the cut? I'm not mad at it all, but it just goes to show you the effect Hip Hop has on people...and to think it wasnt even in a "Urban Neighborhood (aka BLACK NIGGA NEIGHBORHOOD)".
