G-shock: WHY?

I'm not one to knock no one's personal style, although I have the right to say whatever the fuck I want, but let me ask you a question. Is it, still, personal style if everyone has one and wears it the same way?

As of lately (withtin the last 9 months) G-shocks have been flying off of shelves and out of displays from Macy*s to various boutiques across the country. With it's numerous collaborations with multiple "streetwear" brands, both domestic and abroad, I still ask myself why are, or what makes these Casio watches from back in the day so hot? , WHY? Who knows...
Maybe it's its high glossy plastic finish or its future-istic bezel. Whatever it is, I just think there everywhere and starting to become a lil' obnoxious. Grant it, it all depends on the individual and how it's worn, but at the end of the day, its like seriously...how different can you REALLY be?

AND FOR THE RECORD, JUST BECAUSE YOU HAVE A G-SHOCK, DOESN'T MEAN YOU COOL, unless your Pharrell and yours looks like this...

Meda Meda Invasion

Aight, in no way shape or form am I racist or ignorant, (well at least not all the time...j/k) but seriously, whoever's in charge over at cablevision (NYC's #1 cable provider, for those of you that don't live within the city) has to be Media Media...lolll. There Commercials are so espanol inspired! I get the fact that, they wanna reach the urban market, but seriously hispanics aren't the only minorities.

first this...

and now this shit...

***Again, I am in no way shape or form racist!***

Is it Just me...

or do these movies seem very similar? I mean, yea they both star Jim Carey, but aside from that the plots are VERY VERY similar. For those of you who haven't seen the previews for it, "Yes Man" is a movie staring Jim Carey, where all he does is say YES! Why? I don't know, but if you remember, in "Liar, Liar" the situation was similar. Jim Carey's character's son, made a birthday wish, wishing that for one day his father could tell the truth instead of always lying...So i guess you could say he was always forced to say YES...hmmmm.

Enough w/ the synopsis' check it out for yourself, I know I'm not buggin' and I know im not the only one who thinks this...

Intorducing: Shanelle Gabriel

About a month ago, I went to the Nuyorican Cafe' in LES, where they had an open mic poetry slam. No offense, but I'm not really a poetry, book reading by dim light kinda guy, but I went because I didn't want to be close minded. After hearing a poet by the name of Shanelle Gabriel, I then realized why so many people love poetry! Her words, her style, her tone all added to the context of the poem, subsequently causing me to fall in love with her & her words.
For those of you that appreciate poetry, here's something for you and for those of you, similar to myself who, don't really feel the whole poetry thing, check it out... expand your mind!

This Same very poem is what made me fall in love with her...

Charles Hamilton "Brooklyn Girls"

Aight, so ima be extremly honest. When I first heard a couple of songs from this dude, I really wasn't feeling it. The songs nor his swag, but after listening to Brooklyn Girls its not bad. Being that I'm from Brooklyn, I felt like o had to give it a second chance...not to mention my homie Rhonesha getting a line in the song ("Rhonesha's fly and she's sweeter than splenda...cuz no one ever slows her agenda.") Check it out for yourself.

WTF!!!

I hate the way Greatest Hits compilations never get promoted!

Ghostface Killah, 1/9 of the legendary Wu Tang recently released (Dec. 16th) a greatest hits album entitled "Ghostdeini The Great" which comes with a DVD of exclusive and never before seen footage. Over the span of his solo career Ghost has put out several hits, including All That I Got, Cherchez La Ghost, Mighty Healthy and a whole lot more

If pressed for a last minute Christmas gift click here and give that TRUE Hip Hop fan a gift that they'll love.

Styleaholics.com X Rus Azal

Early this month, I got a mssg. from someone on facebook, wanting to interview me for their blog. I was flattered and elated that someone wanted to interview me for their blog. After conversing, she told me that she worked for styleaholics and wanted to interview me as a "style-A-Holic" of the day. Excited and anxious, I gladly excepted and agreed to the interview.

Be on the look out for it. It'll be up in Jan. 09'. Big ups to Shakiera!

Always remember, people are always watching you, especially when you least expect it!

The history behind the name

A lot of subscribers and people who visit RusAzal.com, often ask what is Rus Azal? Where did that name come from? Why that name of all names?

So to answer everyone's question, it comes from my surname LAZARUS. One morning (4am to be exact) two summers ago, when I was on my way to work at Macy*s, I was on the train trying to stay up..lol and started thinking, when I do decide to start my own company what do i want the receptionist to say when she answer's the phone? "Good Morning Lazarus...," "Good Morning Laz...," "Good Morning Rus...". After playing around with LAZARUS, the whole train ride, I came up with "Sur Azal," which is literally Lazarus backwards, but it still wasn't cutting it for me. So after playing around with it some more RUS AZAL was conceived, to me, embodying all that I stand for; Confidence, Humility, Personality, Innovation, Coolness and a whole lot more. From there the rest is all HIStory!

...It really is My Story!

Tis' The Season

Last thursday we had our annual Holiday party, but this year at a different location. I'm not gonna say were, only because it might be there next year and some of you guys may try to sneak in...lol j/k. All in all, it was a night of good friends, great music courtesy of DJ Cassidy & Flex, and endless refreshments..if You know what I mean...

Staying True...

When I was younger and in grade school, we use to have culture day and we would go around the room and ask where we were all from. When my turn would come, I would simply say American, in fear that I would be either mocked or critized for being of Jamaican descent...
A new day has come, and I've never been prouder (yea, I know thats not a real word) to be Jamaican! So here's to my Jamacian heritage!!!
